A client in Japan, a region known for seismic activity, approached us about building a Venlo greenhouse. Earthquake resistance was a major concern, particularly for the glass roof. Prioritizing safety, durability, and thermal efficiency, we recommended using polycarbonate (PC) sheeting as an alternative.

This Venlo PC sheet greenhouse is a whopping 4000 square meters, with a wide span of 8 meters, gutters at 4 meters, and a peak reaching 5.1 meters. To save on costs and keep things breezy for the roses, it uses roll-up vents on the sides instead of having them on the roof.
Knowing the local weather and the client's love for roses, we designed the greenhouse with both shade systems – one outside and one inside – to keep, the sunlight just right for those beautiful blooms. And since it snows a lot in winter, there's also an energy-saving heating system inside to keep things cozy. All these cool features are automated with Ridder controls and motors, making it super easy to manage.
The client even added their air heater machine to heat the air, perfect for those chilly nights and winter days. Believe it or not, this PC greenhouse is almost 12 years old and still going strong! All the pipes are in great shape, but the plastic cover that lets light in isn't quite as clear as it used to be. The client's planning on replacing it after things get back to normal.
